Photo Manager Pro

We used the Photos app on the iPhone and iPad for some time and got more and more frustrated. Here are some of the issues we see:

  • Issues with the iTunes "iPod Photo Cache" (maybe related to the fact that we used multiple iPads and iPhones)
  • Cannot sync with iTunes photos in full size
  • Album nesting only one level deep
  • No easy sync using WiFi

The Photo Manager Pro solves all this and some more. We would say that the Photo Manager Pro is more for advanced users. Right now we only upload to the Photo Manage Pro and don't really sync the images. Adds some hassle but works just fine for us. You also need to understand that Photo Manager Pro stores all the images in its private memory section and not into the common Photo Library. You can export images to the common Camera Roll at any time though.

We FTP our images from our Mac via the free "FileZilla" app. For this you enable File Manager Pro to be a FTP Photo server (via your local WiFi Network).

Once the images are on your iPad/iPhone you can browse as expected:

Single image view

The images can of course also viewed without any overlays. Ther is also access to many of your metadata and a map view. There are some more features available. Searching (e.g. for captions) is one of the very helpful ones.

We are quite happy using Photo Manager Pro.
